As BLACKPINK’s Rosé dominates the global music market with her collaborative track APT. with Bruno Mars, her British royal honor has once again become a topic of discussion.
Notably, the UK’s Official Chart highlighted Rosé’s MBE status while covering her latest achievements.
APT., released on October 18, reached 100 million Spotify streams in just seven days, setting a record as the fastest for a female K-Pop solo artist.
This achievement makes Rosé the second-fastest K-Pop artist to reach this milestone, following BTS’s Jungkook.
In the UK’s Official Singles Chart, APT. debuted at No. 4 on the Top 100, setting a new peak for K-Pop female artists.
In their report, the Official Chart introduced Rosé as "Rosanne Park MBE from New Zealand," referencing her full name and MBE title.
Rosé received her MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) from King Charles III on November 22 last year.
She is the only BLACKPINK member to hold this honor, owing to her dual citizenship in New Zealand, a Commonwealth nation.
There is precedent for this, as Beatles members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were awarded knighthood after initially receiving MBEs in 1965, with their honors granted in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
Additionally, MBE recipients have unique privileges, such as holding weddings at St. Paul’s Cathedral for themselves or their children.
Rosé’s musical accomplishments continue to break new ground.
APT. is the first song by a female K-Pop soloist to top both the U.S. and Global Spotify Top Songs charts.
On October 25, it also topped both the U.S. and Global Spotify Weekly Top Songs charts simultaneously.
Industry experts praise Rosé’s achievements, with one analyst noting,
"Rosé’s accomplishments reveal new possibilities for K-Pop female solo artists, especially in terms of her growing influence in the global music market."
In the U.S., APT. is expected to break into the top ranks of the Billboard Hot 100.
Chart forecasting sites predict a top 10 entry for the song.
Rosé’s recent successes are seen as a prime example of K-Pop’s expanding influence beyond music into cultural realms.
Her royal honor and continued achievements in the global music market represent new milestones for K-Pop’s global stature.
Attention is now focused on Rosé’s future projects, both as an MBE honoree and an influential K-Pop artist, and how these will further elevate K-Pop’s position worldwide.
